BLSBLS Lötschbergbahn AG (originally "Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon-Bahn") Swiss railway services and infrastructure operator. Owns and operates the Lötschberg north-south transit line (Intercity passenger services are operated by SBB) and operates passenger services for the S-Bahn Bern. Subsidiary BLS Cargo operates freight services in open access all over Switzerland, especially also the Gotthard route. Another subsidiary - BLS Alptransit - is responsible for the construction of the new Lötschberg base tunnel line, which is scheduled to open in 2007.
