VDEV Classification System

System for classifying locomotive wheel arrangements, primarily used in Europe. In the USA and Britain, the Whyte Classification System is used (a simplified version of the VDEV System is used for diesel and electric locomotives).

This classification system was first created by the VDEV in Germany.
